A George III silver swing-handled basket

maker's mark R (?) second letter lost in piercing, London 1767
Oval form with gadroon border and open-work stylised shell and leaf sections, the curved sides embossed with "X" motifs having reverse punch beads and panels of varying pierced work of chains, roundels and mullets, the whole raised on a collet foot pierced with geometric scrollwork, contemporary initilas to base "TR" with scratch weight above "36.1", height 9.8cm, length 37.5cm, weight 35.19oz.
