A Victorian silver and hobnail-cut glass four-light épergne
by Benjamin Smith (III), London 1838
The central foliate flute vase supported by swirling foliate scrolls fitted with a hobnail cut-glass dish with repeated fan border, with six upswept foliate scroll branches with octagonal spume nozzles/supports for cut-glass dishes, all supported by a swirling foliate cup on a tripartite base with scrolling legs separated by rocaille fronds and hung with floral garlands on three spreading spume feet, height 60cm, diameter 44cm, weight 162oz.
