The Ardagh Chalice along with a plainer cup and four broaches, a collection known as the Ardagh Hoard are all 8th and 9th century metalwork objects found in 1868; discovered by two young boys, Jim Quinn and Paddy Flanagan, as they were digging for potatoes.
