A fine and large blue and white 'dragon' dish
The imposing dish boldly painted on the interior in underglaze blue imitating the Ming-style 'heaping and piling' with a ferocious winged five-clawed front-facing dragon surrounding a flaming pearl amid a foliate scroll issuing thirteen blossoms, all surrounded by a wide border containing two striding five-clawed dragons amid foliate lotus meander beneath a band of swirling and foaming waves at the rim, the exterior similarly painted with two striding five-clawed dragons amongst blossoms and leafy scroll. 51cm (20in) diam.
