An enamelled rectangular plaque

Republic Period, signed and sealed Wang Dacang
Enamelled with a horse rider approaching a pagoda accompanied by a footservant, and two figures on the way to a pavilion, all among a riverscape with three sailing boats, inscribed and sealed at the top right. 38.5cm x 25cm (15in x 9½in)

Provenance: purchased in the late 1990s from Dominic Jellinek Ltd. and Carter Oriental Ltd. who are believed to have originally bought them directly from the late Anthony Evans, the well-known collector of 20th century Chinese porcelain.

The inscription maybe translated as:

For the farthest thousand-mile view,
up another level, one goes.
In the winning year of Republic Period,
written by Wang Su (Wang Dacang) in Yishan.
