A famille rose rectangular plaque
Enamelled in shades of green, pink, blue, sepia and grisaille with two travellers waiting for an approaching boat among a mountainous riverscape dotted with wooded groves, inscribed and sealed at the top right. 37.8cm x 25.1cm (14½in x 9½in)

Provenance: purchased in the late 1990s from Dominic Jellinek Ltd. and Carter Oriental Ltd. who are believed to have originally bought them directly from the late Anthony Evans, the well-known collector of 20th century Chinese porcelain.

款識: 春風一渡。擬鳥目山人大意於珠山客次。友恭仁兄大人哂存紀念,野亭汪平畫,弟蔡嘉厚敬贈。

The inscriptions may be translated as:
A boat in the spring breeze. In the style of Niaomu shanren, being a guest at Zhushan. Respectfully dedicated to Renxiong daren by brother Cai Jiahou, painted by Wang Yeting.
