A rare cloisonné enamel long-necked pear-shaped vase

Incised Qianlong four-character mark and of the period
The bulbous body enamelled with two confronted blue chilong on a turquoise ground between a fully-blooming lotus flower beneath a row of ruyi, the flaring neck with decorative bands of keyfret, floral scrolls, stiff palmettes and blossoming lotus and flanked by two unusual horned bird-head handles, the foot with four pairs of confronted stylised red fish with green crests on a white ground. 33cm (13in) high

The shape of the present vase is one of the rarer examples of cloisonné enamel wares; compare a related cloisonné enamel kendi with similar form and interlocking lotus design, Qianlong mark and period, in the Palace Museum collection, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Metal-bodied Enamel Ware, Hong Kong, 2002, pl.111.
