A soapstone figure of Guanyin and child

17th/18th century
The creamy stone carved as a Guanyin seated with left knee raised and leaning to her right with the right hand clasping a scroll and supported at the elbow by a low table, the serene face beneath a high chignon stained black looking fondly downwards at a nude child clambering over the right knee and waving a flower stem supported by his mother's left hand.
