A soapstone figure of a luohan

17th/18th century
The purple and pinkish-grey stone formed as a seated luohan with a curling moustache and incised beard, the right arm raised towards his cheek and holding up a circular amulet, the left hand supporting the body loosely clad in a robe with incised borders beside a playful lion cub with a slender curling tail at his left side.
