A fine very pale green jade plaque

18th/19th century
Finely carved with figures by the riverside and on a sampan, within a mountainous landscape with a willow tree and a pavilion, the other side with a three-line inscription.
5.5cm (2 1/8in) long

Footnotes

十八/十九世紀 青玉雕山水人物圖牌

The inscription reads:

一帆雲作伴,
千里月相隨

This can be translated as:

the clouds are our companions,
for a thousand miles the moon follows


which is a couplet from the late Tang poem 'Composed while travelling south on the Fuyang river' 南游富陽江中作 by Wei Zhuang 韋莊 (836?-910).
