十八世紀 青玉雕佛手式蓋盒

來源: 於2003年4月2日購自倫敦 Roger Keverne Ltd.

The finger citron is also known as the 'Buddha's hand' citron, the name deriving from its supposed similarity to the idealised, long and slender, lotus-formed fingers of the Buddha. The term for 'Buddha's hand' 佛手 foshou recalls the terms 福 fu (riches) and 壽 shou (longevity) and so the finger citron has come to represent these wishes. Together with the peach and the pomegranate, it is one of the Three Abundances, and is one of the most enduring motifs in Chinese art.
