A miniature Byzantine gold cross
Circa 5th-7th Century A.D.
The hollow cross with arms of rectangular cross-section, a central circular bezel re-set with a cabochon garnet, both sides decorated with a moulded leaf motif, three chains with later pearl pendants suspended below, a suspension loop above, 1¼in (3.2cm) long
