A Byzantine gold cross pendant with carnelian bead necklace
Circa 6th-8th Century A.D.
The necklace restrung, composed of graduated rectangular carnelian beads interspersed with small spherical glass spacer beads, the flat-backed cross pendant with teardrop shaped arms set with garnets, bordered with granulation, a pearl between each arm, one now missing, with a central open bezel, with modern clasp, 19in (48cm) long
