An Indo-Arab matchlock torador
18th or early 19th century

The 46 inch tapered octagonal barrel in .65 caliber smoothbore; breech marked Pedre--, probably for a member of the Pedretti family of Gardone, Italy, and fitted with aperture sight in the eastern manner. Action sheathed in simple metal plates showing old varnish/painted finish, some with slight traces of gilt finish. Full stock with hemispherical buttplate suggesting an Indo-Arab origin.
Condition: Fair. Metal showing wear and old varnish/painted finish as noted above. Fore-sight blade missing. Fore-end with splits and losses.
