A brass-barreled English flintlock blunderbuss by James Barbar
London, mid-18th century

The 14 inch four-stage brass barrel with cannon muzzle, the top flat marked London, side flat with Tower view and proof for private arms. Rounded lockplate signed Barbar. Brass furniture. Full walnut stock with slender, rounded wrist. Horn-tipped ramrod.
Condition: Very good. Barrel and lock with dark, unpolished patina. Buttplate with small tear to one side, lower ramrod thimble dented. Stock with numerous minor marks, split in ramrod trough, hairline crack in front of lock and one chip to left side of fore-end at front barrel pin.
