A brass-mounted English flintlock pistol by Griffin

The 8 inch tapered round barrel in .64 caliber smoothbore faintly signed London and bearing Gunmaker's Company view and proof marks and a crowned F. Rounded lock engraved with double line border and signed Griffin. Brass furniture comprising flat, recurved counterplate engraved with foliage and dentate borders, border-engraved triggerguard with shell finial, wrist escutcheon engraved with foliage and spurred buttcap, the cap screw enclosed with an engraved blossom. Full walnut stock with simple relief panel at the barrel tang and drop points behind the lock and counterplate.
Condition: Very good. Barrel showing areas of light to heavy pitting towards the breech end. Lock with dark patina and some light pitting. Stock with scattered light marks, hairline cracks to fore-end, below lock and in front of counterplate and with one small replaced sliver on right side of tip of fore-end.
