A continental wheel-lock military pistol
second quarter 17th century, probably Dutch or German

Two-stage 12 3/4 inch barrel in .67 caliber smoothbore; breech showing traces of engraved decoration and inscription, the top flat with three stars over M, the left flat with oval touch mark, a bushy tree flanked by two stars. Unmarked lock with exposed wheel and beveled edges. Replaced stock, the fishtail butt with dark horn buttplate. Later horn-tipped ramrod.
Condition: Very good as restocked. Barrel cleaned at one time and showing scattered light pitting. One lock screw missing. Stock with scattered marks.
