A Middle Eastern percussion pistol
19th century

The 10 5/8 inch octagonal Damascus barrel with five groove rifling in .58 caliber. Underside of muzzle pierced with small mount, probably for a swivel ramrod. Scroll-engraved lock. Engraved steel triggerguard with pineapple finial. Stepped buttcap with cap reservoir. Full stock with barrel wedge, small silver fore-end band, single brass capucine. Right side of wrist with pinned repair set with silver reinforcing band.
Condition: Very good. Barrel showing wear to Damascus pattern and some areas of light pitting. Cock a period replacement. Stock with hairline cracks at fore-end and counterscrew, slivered loss to right side fore-end and repair as noted above. Mainspring fatigued. Nipple fractured.
