A large incised powder horn
probably 20th century

The 16 inch horn having a flat plug covered in red fabric below a dentate rim encircled by a repeating border and fitted with horn suspension eye; neck finely carved with two faceted panels framed by multiple ring, the lowermost inscribed William Turk; one side incised with poem Arouse jolly Bacchus the Horn to embrace/'Twill cheer up the spirits to follow the chase/It will brace up the nerves the game to pursue/And cause the bold huntsman to sound the hallo!; horn stopper in the form of a clenched fist.
Condition: Showing a few scattered light marks.
