An incised Scottish powder horn
19th century

The dark, spiraling 12 inch horn with inset wooden plug below a rim pierced with three suspension holes; the spout carved with two tall, narrow rings above a faceted section; the body incised on one side with a crown over confronted thistle plants, a three masted schooner on the other side and with thistle meander above the plug. Retaining the original dark horn plug and an old and possibly original woven suspension cord.
Condition: Very good, some chipping above the plug.
