A U.S. Special Model 1861 contract percussion rifle-musket by Lamson, Goodnow and Yale

Not serialized, .58 caliber. Standard configuration except that rear sight replaced with a brass open sight. Lockplate dated 1862. Walnut stock with faint inspector's cartouche behind counterscrews.
Condition: Very good. Metal with dark unpolished patina and showing some light pitting at breech, sharp V/P and eaglehead and wear to Windsor marking on lock. Sound wood showing numerous light marks. With original ramrod.
