A U.S. Model 1861 Springfield percussion rifle-musket

The 40 inch .58 caliber barrel with three-leaf rear sight and marked at breech V/P/eaglehead and dated 1861. Lockplate with standard markings and dated 1862. Iron furniture and walnut stock of standard pattern. With correct socket bayonet, the shank variously marked 4/US/P/8/I.
Condition: Very good. Grey metal showing sharp markings (slight wear to breech date) and scattered minor spotting/light pitting. Generally clean wood showing sharp edges, the buttstock with numerous light marks.
