A Sharps Model 1853 slant breech percussion carbine

Serial no. 14764, .54 caliber. 21 1/2 inch barrel with brass blade fore-sight, ladder rear sight and marked Sharps Rifle/Manufg. Co./Hartford, Conn., the left breech flat with M. Action with long sling bar and showing standard markings, the lock mark of early type. Brass fore-end band, patchbox and buttplate. Walnut stock and fore-end.
Condition: Very good. Barrel with smooth grey metal with a few patches of light pitting, sharp markings and slight traces of blue in protected areas. Rear sight missing slide. Fine bore. Action with mottled grey metal showing areas of silvered casehardening. Sound wood showing few light marks except for area of deep bruises to left side of wrist.
