A 2nd Model Cosmopolitan breechloading percussion carbine

Serial no. 1037, .52 caliber. Standard contract type, the 19 inch two-stage barrel with adjustable rear sight. Fire-blued breechblock and tang. Action marked Union/Rifle. Lockplate with standard Cosmopolitan markings. Walnut stock.
Condition: Very good. Barrel with smooth brown patina. Bore heavily pitted. Breechblock and tang with 65-75% blue. Action showign some light pitting and wear to markings. Stock with repaired crack between lock and triggerguard and possibly refinished.
