A 4th Model Burnside breechloading percussion carbine

Serial no. 17851, .54 caliber. 20 inch barrel with two-leaf rear sight and marked Cast Steel 18-- and, at the breech, B. Casehardened action and lock with standard markings. Blued lever. Oil-finished walnut stock with sharp inspector's cartouche.
Condition: Fine. Barrel with dark grey patina showing traces of thin blue and areas of very light pitting. Excellent bright bore. Action retains 90% plus partially faded casehardening, the left side with much vivid color, the right side showing some spotting. Lever with 95% dark blue finish. Fine wood showing scattered dents and bruises.
