A fine cased Blunt & Syms pepperbox revolver
mid-19th century

Serial no. 7, .30 caliber. Unmarked 3 inch fluted, six-shot barrel cluster. Scroll-engraved frame, the top with poorly stamped markings Blunt & Syms/New York. Blued finish. Fire-blued ring trigger. Varnished walnut bag-shaped walnut grips. Frame under grips serial numbered 7, the grips marked VII. Complete with rare original walnut case. Contoured, partitioned interior and lid lined in a patterned velour. Accessories comprising: a three cavity brass mold; powder flask, the silvered body fitted with two suspension rings; green label Eley cap tin; loading rod, the walnut handle broken and missing one half.
Condition: Excellent. Gun retains 80-90% dark blue finish. Sharp engraving throughout. Trigger with 80-90% fire blue. Grips with minor marks. Case lid with two hairline cracks. Lining showing some minor staining and small tears. Accessories very good to fine, the flask retaining much gilt, fire-blued and silvered finish.
