A militia enlistedman's buff leather shoulder belt with bayonet and scabbard
circa 1850-60, probably for the 5th New York Regiment

The buff leather belt with rolled brass plate affixed with a white metal regimental numeral 5, the reverse with applied tongue and two wire hooks; interior of belt inked Clickner Co. G. #47. With Type I Model 1816 socket bayonet, the blade marked US/TA/L, the socket marked W/C/34; with brass-mounted leather scabbard.
Condition: Belt very sound and showing some staining; bayonet with spotting/light pitting; scabbard with surface crazing and flaking and one partly tender spot, the throat with reattached hook.
