circa 1776-90

The pouch of heavy black leather; large flap decorated with a stamped border and now mounted with a brass eaglehead ornament. Under the eaglehead are two holes indicating that at one time there was a different fitting, probably incorporating an attachment for the iron clasp mounted on the lower front of the pouch. Interior with wooden block drilled with 24 cavities for .69 caliber paper cartridges. Contoured back with two sewn belt loops.
Condition: Leather showing surface crazing but very sound. Right belt loop detached at one end.
