A rare early Federal period set of militia infantry accoutrements

Including a 9 x 4 1/2 inch rectangular cartridge box with large flap, interior with front pocket and wooden block drilled with twenty-four cavities for .69 caliber paper cartridges; together with it's original, but now detached tan linen cross belt, one end retaining it's leather billet, the front mounted with an oval brass plate professionally engraved Wm. Knox. Together with the original accompanying tan linen crossbelt fitted with leather bayonet frog containing a Model 1795 socket bayonet, the 14 inch triangular blade marked US and it's black leather scabbard.
Condition: The cartridge pouch showing considerable surface flaking but still sound. One buckle for attaching the cross belt missing, the other present and still attached to the leather cross belt, the rest of the belt showing staining, tears. The other belt showing staining and tears, the bayonet scabbard with flaking, several tender spots and missing the tip. Bayonet showing areas of light pitting.

Note: This set of equipment, together with a musket and knapsack, would satisfy the exact requirements of the Militia Act of 1792, compulsory for all male citizens, age 18-45.
