An American officer's dress sword belt
first quarter 19th century

The 2 3/4" square die-struck brass buckle finely molded with eagle and stand of arms motif. Reverse with tongue and belt loop with two keepers and mounted on original green morocco leather sword belt, the exterior sides with gilt borders centering oak leaf and acorn meander. One sword strap retaining the gilt brass swivel.
Condition: Buckle with dark patina. Belt with surface scuffing and crazing, the sword straps with considerable wear, some small tears and missing the keepers.
