A brass-hilted non-regulation foot officer's sword by Wilhelm Clauberg & Company

Slightly curved 32 inch Iron Proof blade with 14 inch panel etched with conventional motifs. Maker-marked ricasso. Brass hilt of British form with cut-out of spread eagle, E Pluribus Unum riband and US. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Blade with dark, mottled patina showing wear to decoration. Hilt slightly bent and showing dark patina with traces of gilt finish. Shagreen showing light wear, the wire wrap slightly loose. Scabbard with dark patina and two deep dents.
