A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword
Solingen for the American market

Slightly curved 32 inch blade with 11 inch panel etched with scrollwork, US and spread eagle. Ricasso marked Solingen with unidentified maker's mark, a barrel with tools and sheaf of wheat. Steel hilt of British form, the guard with cut-out of large eagle and US. Grey shagreen and brass wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Blade showing spotting, some light pitting and slightly rounded point. Hilt and scabbard with dark patina. Shagreen showing some wear and losses.
