A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword
probably by Wilhelm Walsheid, Solingen

Slightly curved 32 inch Iron Proof blade with 11 inch panel etched with florals, US and spread eagle, the unmarked ricasso with brass Proved disc. Steel hilt of British form, the guard with oval cut-out featuring small Federal eagle and US with infantry horn. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Generally clean blade showing sharp decoration and some patches of light spotting. Hilt with dark patina, the grip showing light wear to shagreen. Scabbard with mottled patina, minor pitting and a few light dents.
