A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword
Solingen for the American market

Slightly curved 32 1/2 inch Iron Proof blade with 11 inch panel etched with scrollwork, US and spread eagle with E Pluribus Unum riband. Unmarked ricasso with brass Proved disc. Steel hilt in the British pattern with cut-out of large eagle and US. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Excellent blade. Hilt and scabbard with dark grey patina showing scattered spotting/light pitting. Grip missing perhaps 30% of shagreen.
