A Civil War era foot officer's sword by W. Walscheid for the American market

Slightly curved 32 1/2 inch blade with 17 inch panel etched with scrolling florals, panoplies featuring American flags and Federal shields and on one side with a Federal eagle, the other with US. Steel semi-basket hilt of British Pattern 1827 rifle officer's type pierced with crown and hunting horn. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Showing dark patina with areas of light pitting overall. Grip with some losses to shagreen.
