A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword by F. Horster
Solingen for the American market

Slightly curved 32 inch Iron Proof blade with 6 inch etched panels, one side with florals and US, the other with Federal eagle. Ricasso etched with scrollwork and stamped F. Horster/Solingen, reverse with brass Proved disc. Steel semi-basket hilt of British form, the guard pierced with eagle and US Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Blade excellent. Hilt and scabbard showing areas of light spotting, the hilt retaining it's red leather spacer. Grip excellent.
