A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword by Walscheid of Solingen

Slightly curved 32 1/2 inch Iron Proof blade with 18 inch panel etched with florals and panoplies, one side with US, the other with E Pluribus Unum riband and Federal eagle. Maker marked and Proved ricasso. Steel guard pierced with eagle and US. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Blade with scattered spotting/minor pitting and generally sharp engraving. Hilt and scabbard with dark, mottled patina, the scabbard with scattered dents. Grip wrap worn, the wire slightly loose and one strand with break.
