A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword by Clauberg

Slightly curved 32 1/2 inch Iron Proof blade with 18 inch panel etched with florals, scrolls, strapwork and panoplies incorporating American motifs. Ricasso with standard Clauberg markings and brass Proved disc. Steel hilt of British form with stepped pommel, the guard pierced with Federal eagle over US. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Blade with mottled grey patina, the decoration sharp. Hilt and scabbard with dark patina, the scabbard with some deep dents at drag. Sound grip wrap with minor scuffing.
