A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword by Clauberg

Slightly curved 32 inch Iron Proof blade with two panels etched with scrolling florals, the uppermost with US on one side and Federal eagle on the other. Ricasso with maker's marking for W. Clauberg. Brass hilt of varient form, the guard in the British style with cut-out of Federal eagle and small US, the pommel of French form as the Model 1850 Foot Officer's sword. Grey shagreen-covered grip bound with three strands of brass wire. Brass-mounted blued iron scabbard.
Condition: Excellent blade retains most original polish with some light scratches. Hilt with very dark, unpolished patina. Grip excellent. Scabbard retains much original finish which is now turned to brown and shows light spotting overall.
