A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword

Slightly curved 32 inch blade etched with conventional floral scrollwork and panoplies incorporating US on one side and E Pluribus Unum riband on the other. Ricasso with brass Proved disc. Pierced steel hilt of British pattern of variant design featuring oval panel engraved with E Pluribus Unum riband, Federal eagle and laurel wreath. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Blade with dark grey patina showing wear to decoration and some minor pitting. Hilt and scabbard with very dark patina, the scabbard with scattered light dents. Grip wrap with minor wear.
