A Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword
Solingen for the American market

Slightly curved 33 inch Iron Proof blade having etched panels of scrollwork, the uppermost with US on one side and a Federal eagle on the other. Ricasso with maker's markings of W. Clauberg. Steel hilt of British pattern with stepped pommel, the guard pierced with Federal eagle, E Pluribus Unum riband and US. Dark grey shagreen and brass wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Clean blade showing some light spotting. Hilt with dark patina. Grip wrap showing some scuffing but very sound. Scabbard showing spotting/minor pitting.
