A brass-hilted CIvil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword
Solingen for the American market

Slightly curved 32 inch Iron Proof blade with 20 inch fuller and 14 inch panel etched with scrolling florals, panoplies incorporating the Stars & Strips, one side with US and the other with eagle and E Pluribus Unum riband. Unmarked ricasso. Brass hilt pierced with Federal eagle, US and riband embossed with thirteen stars. Grey shagreen and brass wire-wrapped grip. Browned scabbard, the brass mounts engraved with blossoms.
Condition: Fine blade retaining much original polish. Grip wrap showing light scuffing and minor losses to shagreen. Scabbard retaining much of the finish with areas thinning to dark grey metal and showing some spotting.
