A brass-hilted Civil War era non-regulation foot officer's sword
Solingen for the American market

Slightly curved 32 inch Iron Proof blade etched with 6 inch panels, one side with U.S., the other with Federal eagle and with scrollwork above the hilt; ricasso signed W/Clauberg/Solingen. Brass hilt of British pattern pierced and engraved with scrollwork, US and an eagle with upswept wings, an E Pluribus Unum riband in it's beak. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Iron scabbard with brass throat, drag and narrow suspension mounts.
Condition: Fine blade showing some scattered light spotting. Grip with minor wear to shagreen. Scabbard with smooth, mottled grey patina and some light dents above the drag.
