A U.S. Model 1850 foot officer's sword

Slightly curved 32 inch pipe-back blade with 18 inch parcel gilt panel etched and engraved with florals and panoplies of arms; one side with U.S., the other with eagle sans Federal shield. Ricasso marked Clauberg/Solingen. Brass hilt of standard pattern. Grey shagreen and brass wire-wrapped grip. Brass mounted blued steel scabbard, the suspension bands molded with stars.
Condition: Blade with dark patina showing areas of very light pitting and retaining traces of gilt finish. Hilt with slight traces of gilt finish, the grip wound but showing wear and missing some wire at the pommel. Scabbard retaining most of the blued finish.
