A deluxe U.S. Model 1850 foot officer's sword
retailed by Henry Folsom, St. Louis, Missouri

Slightly curved 30 3/4 inch Iron Proof blade with 18 inch panel etched and engraved with scrolling florals and panoplies; one side with U.S., the other with Federal eagle and at ricasso H. Folsom/St. Louis. Brass hilt of standard pattern. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Black leather scabbard, the brass mounts engraved with foliage, the suspension bands with stars, the throat with vacant shield-shaped panel, the drag with a Federal eagle.
Condition: Blade with grey metal showing some spotting/light pitting towards the point. Brass with smooth, dark patina. Sound scabbard leather showing some flaking and with old restoration at the drag.
