A non-regulation mounted officer's saber
French for the American market

Slender, curved 34 inch blade of pronounced T-section with clipped point above two short fullers and with 13 inch panel etched and engraved with scrollwork, panoplies, U.S. and Federal eagle. Ricasso with armor mark, probably Wilhelm Clauberg & Cie. Gilt brass hilt of French 1822 pattern. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts.
Condition: Fine blade showing scattered light spotting. Hilt retaining much gilt finish. grip fine. Scabbard with restoration above the drag, the mounst with much gilt finish and scattered dents.
