An unusual non-regulation light infantry officer's saber
French for the American market

Narrow, slightly curved 29 inch quill-back blade with 13 inch panel etched with scrollwork and panoplies; one side with US, the other with Federal eagle. Brass hilt of French 1822 pattern, underside of guard marked F D. Ribbed horn grip. Black leather scabbard, the brass mounts with two suspension rings.
Condition: Fine blade with some very minor spotting. Grip missing wire wrap. Scabbard with surface scuffing and one tender spot but otherwise sound.
