A non-regulation Civil War cavalry officer's saber

Slightly curved 32 1/2 inch blade with broad, shallow fuller, faint etched decoration incorporating scrolling florals, US and spread eagle and marked at the ricasso W. Walnschen/Solingen with brass Proved mark. Steel three bar hilt molded with line borders. Grey shagreen and copper wire-wrapped grip. Nickel-plated scabbard.
Condition: Blade with dark patina, some minor pitting, nicks to edge and wear to decoration. Hilt with dark, unpolished patina. Grip fine. Scabbard with few minor dents.
