An unusual non-regulation foot officer's sword

Unmarked 32 1/2 inch quill-back blade. Silver-plated hilt comprising a broad, concave half-basket guard pierced with scrollwork and with applied silver-plated brass plaque in the form of an eagle with upswept wings perched on a Federal shield. Grey shagreen and silver wire-wrapped grip. Iron two-ring scabbard.
Condition: Blade with bright steel showing light cleaning. Hilt retains nearly all unpolished silver plated finish. Grip with some scuffing. Scabbard with dark patina.
