An Ottoman silver-mounted yataghan
early 19th century

The 18 inch recurved single edged blade of typical form, the spine chiseled with a narrow rib. One-piece silver hilt with slightly flared 'eared' pommel and chased with a design of blossoms and panels of meander. Silver bolster extending to the reinforcing panel over the base of the blade and deeply chased with florals. With original black leather-covered scabbard with simple grey metal throat and tip.
Condition: Blade showing minor pitting. Hilt with unpolished patina. One side of bolster slightly lifting from tang. Scabbard very sound and showing small areas of loss to surface of leather.
